Our Charity Film Awards nomination

A film we have produced has been nominated in the 2023 Charity Film Awards.

We created the video with Oxfordshire-based charity, My Life My Choice, who are run by and support people with learning difficulties.

The award-winning charity commissioned us to make a film to showcase their Travel Buddy Scheme.  The peer-to-peer travel training scheme empowers people with learning difficulties to travel independently and also offers paid work opportunities.

The filming for the video took place in one day and we worked with Charlene, Luke, Pam and Dean from the charity.  They shared their experiences in interviews and we filmed them out and about travelling around Oxford.

Pam is excited about being shortlisted saying, ‘I feel very happy and I hope we win as it’s a very good film’.

Pam also enjoyed the filming process saying, ‘It was very good filming and it built my confidence up. We’ve had a lot of good feedback on the film from our other members. I feel proud to have been part of the film.’

The charity used the film to promote their Travel Buddy Scheme and encourage more charities to get involved.

Only 5.1% of adults with learning disabilities are in paid work (NHS Digital, 2021) and over half of disabled people report feeling lonely (Sense, 2017). My Life My Choice aims to tackle this head on with the Travel Buddy Scheme.

The Charity Awards is the World’s biggest campaign to promote cause based films, which is supported by the British Film Institute. My Life My Choice has been nominated in the £350,000 to £1 Million turnover category. The full 2023 finalists can be viewed here.

The winners are chosen through a combination of expert panel and public votes. They will be announced at a ceremony at Odeon Leicester Square in London on 21st March 2023. All charity finalists will be invited to join a night of celebration and recognition for their hard work in the sector.
