Bounce wins at global film festival awards

A film that we produced for charity, My Life My Choice, has won an international film festival award.

Our #WeCantWait campaign film won in the ‘Diversity, Equity & Inclusion’ charity category at the 2023 Big Syn International film Festival.

The film shines a light on a campaign to address long standing health inequalities, by prioritising people with a learning disability on NHS and social care waiting lists.

A red carpet ceremony took place at Curzon Mayfair on 10th November. Bounce Creative Director, Grace Gibbons, and Cinematographer, Chris Atkins, attended along with members of the charity team.

The Big Syn International film festival celebrates films that are inspiring millions to act on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The awards grand jury included Dragons Den TV personality and green investor Deborah Meaden, and Oscar winner Chris Tashima. BAFTA, Emmy & Cannes award-winning filmmaker, Waad Al Kateab, and London Business School’s Head of Sustainability, Professor Ioannis Ioannou, were also on the grand jury. The jury selected the winners from over 600 entries from across the globe.

Following the awards ceremony, the winning films were shown on Europe’s biggest screen, London’s iconic Piccadilly Lights, on 14th November.

The founders of the festival, Dr Ragini G Roy, and Dr Sourav Roy, remarked, “This is the world’s biggest platform unifying the power of all forms of films from shorts, features, documentaries, animations to charity films and public service videos that draw attention to sustainability, and inspire people to act on the 17 United Nations Global Goals. These include combatting major issues such as climate change, mental health, inequality, discrimination, poverty and many more.”

Grand Jury member Deborah Meaden said, “It was a pleasure to be on the Grand Jury of Big Syn International Film Festival. Films have a powerful role in showing us the big-picture of sustainability and its significance for our own lives through relatable stories from across the world. This is how Big Syn Film Fest is spreading awareness about sustainability and the UN’s Global Goals to inspire positive action.”

The organiser of the festival and awards, Big Syn Institute, is a part of the Centre for Big Synergy, a CSO of the United Nations Department of the Social and Economic Affairs, tasked to create a thriving, capable and responsible future for us and generations to come.

Celebrating moments after the win

Grace Gibbons from Bounce Video said, “We were thrilled to be invited to the ceremony by the team at My Life My Choice. It’s a fantastic charity that is 100% user-led and it’s a privilege to work with them to raise awareness on this important issue.  This is the second film award we’ve won with the charity in just 8 months, so we’re really excited about what might be coming next.”

In March 2023 a Bounce film about a My Life My Choice project called Travel Buddies won at the Smiley Charity video awards.
